Stop Whining and Start
Winning
By Jane Button
You know when you were a kid and you started whining and your
parents gave you a "time out"? It's no different in business- you
hear people whining and saying things like:
-
I
can't
-
She
has more stores interested in buying her products
-
They have more money than I do
-
They were an overnight success - I am struggling
-
I have children so I don't have enough time
-
I have to do everything myself so I can't get
things done as fast as the other guys
Give yourself a "time-out" from this kind of thinking.
Stop comparing yourself to other businesses; other people and
seemingly "overnight success" businesses. Comparing yourself, your
products, your business and your knowledge to other people and
businesses is the "kiss of death" to the entrepreneurial spirit.
Sitting around whining about what you don't have is like praying
for what you don't want
- so make a 30 day commitment to end the negativity and comparison
thoughts. I challenge you to do this!
You are where you are now - right now this very minute!
Complaining or whining only drains your energy, your creativity
and your resources for success. So stop it with the comparisons
and get moving on changing your attitude to winning.
Turn Whining into Winning:
-
Turn
"I can't" into "How can I make this happen"
by using your creative nature which started you on this
entrepreneurial path in the beginning. Remember the story about
the two little girls - one said she couldn't and the other said
she could - and they were both right. You are what you think you
are. Thoughts are things - think good ones!
-
You may think she has more stores interested in buying her
products - it may or may not be true.
It does not matter. The question is how are you going to get
more stores interested in your products? Your business is unique
- claim your uniqueness and learn how to attract interest in
your products.
-
Just because you have money does not mean you'll use it the
right way.
Don't allow money to be an excuse not to do something. Use the
money you do have to your best advantage. Claiming lack gets you
more lack not more money. There is great abundance for all.
Change your attitude towards money and you'll change your life
forever.
-
No
one is really an overnight success -
there is always working, movement, education, development going
on in the background. How fast you get to the "success" depends
on your definition of success - not anyone else's. What is your
definition?
-
Please don't use your children as an excuse.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day and yes, children need
your time, your love and nurturing. Learn to use the time you do
have wisely; get over the "balance" myth because there will be
times when you focus more on your business or your children.
Decide on your pace; outsource assistance and make choices - not
excuses!
-
"I have to do everything myself" is the biggest downfall of
small businesses.
You DO NOT and SHOULD NOT! Doing everything yourself is a huge
mistake. Even though you need to know how everything works - you
do not physically need to do everything yourself. My rule of
thumb is, "do what only you can do and delegate the rest." Use
your brilliance where it is most effective. Make a list of
those things you can give away to someone else - then start the
delegation ball rolling. And no whining about this either - you
can make more money and create more business by delegating.
Challenge yourself for the next 30 days.
Stop yourself when you start up with the whining and the "woe is
me" thinking. You have the power, the brilliance and the mindset
to change your attitude. It will make a huge difference.
